Our History
The Khayamandi Foundation was born from Kurt Malzer’s deep passion for giving back to his homeland, South Africa. After returning home from several mission trips, Kurt, along with his friend Roger Henderson, founded Khayamandi in 2012 to create opportunities for orphans, children, and youth to grow and learn. As the foundation’s work expanded, a new opportunity emerged in 2021 to support early education and clean water initiatives for refugees in the Rhino Refugee Settlement Camp in Arua, Uganda—extending Khayamandi’s mission beyond borders.
2014-2021
Several mission teams went to South Africa working on expanding structures and creating relationships.
- Built Sunday School room in Knysna, mission trip
- Built onto an existing home that was used as the safe house
- Built a kitchen onto a church in Rennendall
2021-2023
- Built Tika Trauma Center
- Made relationship with the Camp Rhino Refugee Settlement
- Took over leadership of Missions Cafe and New Life Early Childhood Development Center in Uganda
- Partnership with World Vision Uganda on Water project
2024-2025
- Strategic Planning Retreat refocusing our efforts and creating our model for change
- Hiring of chaplains and creation of Spiritual Development Initiatives
- Expanding water to the rhino settlement community
