Fulfilling Dreams through Skills

“I have a dream to be an electrician,” states Eleazer Phillips. “That’s why I came to the school. To fulfill my dream.”

Eleazer Phillips is a student in the Hands & Heart Skills Development Program in Knysna, South Africa. He, like many others in the program, struggled academically in traditional educational settings, leading to his decision to leave school. This did not deter his aspirations though. Instead, he sought out an alternative path to success. The Hands & Heart program offered precisely that—a chance to acquire practical skills that are not only in demand but also essential for personal growth and development.

A 6-month course provides comprehensive training in various handyman skills including electrical, plumbing, workplace preparation, draughtsman, tiling, building construction, and carpentry. The program also instills confidence and prepares the students for challenges in the workplace.

Khayamandi Foundation is pivotal in helping Eleazer fulfill his dream. Their support and funding enables Hands and Heart to offer life-changing opportunities to numerous young men and women.

As Eleazer Phillips continues to put in the work, his journey reminds us of the profound impact that education and vocational training can have in creating brighter, more empowered communities, one dream at a time.
