Imange: No Longer Abandoned
Imange’s life transformed from one of abandonment to one of security twelve years ago when she was brought to the Lukhanyiso Safe House in Knysna, South Africa. She was just 5 years old when her parents walked out of their house, leaving this sweet little girl to care for her 2-year-old brother. It is unknown how many days they were alone; but when the children were discovered, little 5-year-old Imange had been cooking and caring for her little brother.
Today, Imange is a happy 17-year-old teenage girl. Life at the Lukhanyiso Safe House has given her a safe and secure place to live, a house full of siblings and a mom that loves her.
The Khayamandi Foundation partners with Lukhanyiso Safe House to financially provide for the school fees of all the children living there, including Imange.
