Lilian Appels
Lilian Appels began volunteering at Youth For Christ in 2006 when she was invited to enroll in Level 1 and Level 2 “Equipped to Serve” courses. Once she completed these courses she worked as a volunteer lay-counselor and facilitator for the Options program for 8 years.
Lilian’s first introduction to Khayamandi was in 2014 when they sponsored her son, Denolin, to attend a 3-year plumbing program at Africa Skills. This allowed Denolin to become a qualified registered plumber.
Lilian is now a registered Social Auxiliary Worker. She manages the Options Counseling office (For YFC), coordinates Level 1 and 2 training courses, co-facilitates the Dignity campaign at one of the township schools, facilitates prevention programs at schools and works in the after school study clubs.
She and her husband Dennis have two grown children.
Lilian volunteers at her church teaching Sunday School to children and youth. “I have a passion for working with women who are in crisis, and I love kids very much,” she stated.
Lilian’s salary is sponsored by the Khayamandi Foundation to work with Youth For Christ.
